What exactly do we need to do with this for extra credit? Basically just describe the different characters in the story?
Yes, Ms. Dewart explained that you will need to write a character analysis here. This would be an analysis of the archetypes, protagonists, antagonists, dynamic, static, flat, round, etc... characters in this story.
Okay, Thank you!
The Great Gatsby is known for its intriguing characters. The main character in the story in my opinion is Gatsby. Gatsby would be the protagonist; he is what the story is centered around. The antagonist would have to be Tom Buchannan because he is the evil one. He beats on his mistress, Myrtle. He also, cheats on his wife, Daisy. Tom and Gatsby fighting is what the story leads up to the entire time you are reading the book. The round characters of the story would be Gatsby and Nick, in my opinion. These two characters are the most in depth characters. You know a lot about the lives of Nick, and Gatsby. Next, the flat characters, these characters are the ones that the readers don’t know much about. Tom, Daisy Jordan Baker, Myrtle, and George would all fit into the flat character persona. Readers know who these characters are, but they don’t know anything about their personal lives. The static characters would be pretty much all of the main characters in the story minus Nick. The static characters show no change throughout the entire book. They may say they will change at some points in the story but they don’t. The only dynamic character in the story is Nick. He beings the story as a genuine, honest, man but near the end he notices himself being overwhelmed by the other characters wealth and drama. After he notices it, he ends his relationship with Jordan Baker and moves back to the mid-west, a more honest place, as Nick describes.
This information really helped me, I am sharing with a few friends.
